This "Atlas" directory contains data and spectra, observed and corrected for
the persistence, of datasets not included in other places. For example, Belukha
ice core data have been formerly considered within the "Georgia" dataset
(the relative paper have been accepted on April 11, 2018 for the pubblication by the
Elsevier Journal STOTEN), but not yet corrected for the persistence.
So, if some other "Georgian" or "homeless" dataset will be analysed, it will be included
here.
Please, ALWAYS remember that my method of computing the Hurst exponent H
is
wrong and its value may be considered as an upper limit, at best, because I use
j=1
(i.e. lag 1) in a formula which requires j --> ∞.
On the other hand, we don't need H in the case of spectra: in order to
evaluate if the numerical first difference or derivative of the dataset does
account (correct) for its long-term memory, only a comparison between the
"before" and "after" auto-correlation functions (ACF) is useful,
and such a comparison is actually included as the first plot of any dataset.
Any dataset into the "Atlas" is organized as follows:
- 1.st page: Observed and Corrected ACFs, in order to evaluate the
"strength" of the correction.
- 2.nd page: a list of spectral maxima (no limit to their power) of
observed vs corrected data.
- We refer to this page as "the comparison
page".
- Reference to the original data is also
included below the table.
- 3.rd and 4.th pages: "front-face" comparison of both spectra.
- In rare cases (only two ones, actually) the comparison between first
difference and derivative is added too.
